We had our pick of riverfront lots where we wanted to build on and we just said this has to be one of the most beautiful spots in the world. We are the pouchers and we're going to tell you a little bit about why we love 3623 White Cliffs Drive, which we definitely do. We've put in extensive patios out in the back so that we can have drinks and sit around the fire and watch the sunset. The sunsets are just dynamite. They are absolutely breathtaking. It is so calm and so tranquil. It's beautiful. When we were drawing up plans for the house, we wanted every room to have a water view. We eat dinner looking out 180° on the river. I love nature. There's always something going on. When we bought this lot, we didn't want to have another house in front of us, so we bought the lot in front of us and have kept that natural. It just gives us pleasure to be able to to look at nature from both the front and the back. It's a very sociable neighborhood, too. There are so many amenities. It's just amazing the diversity of activities. There's two swimming pools. tennis courts, the fitness center that's open 24 hours a day, lovely restaurants that has outside seating, nice food. It's a nice place just for neighbors to gather. It's a walking community. You see people out walking all the time. There's a lovely river walk that goes for half a mile from boat launch down to the marina at the other end. It's a It's a happy It's a happy place. It is a happy place. I'm getting sad about leaving. I think we're going to miss a little bit of everything and a lot of some of the things. If somebody's looking for a calm, comfortable, pleasurable lifestyle, I think it's here if they're willing to open their arms to it.
When we saw this lot and the views, we just felt like this is our happy place. I'm Jackie Boris. I'm Ken Boris. And this is 2544 Mariners's Way in Southport as part of St. James. It's a welcoming place from the elevator to the openness of the floor plan. It has everything that you could ever ask for. It's pretty perfect. We built the house with what's called superior walls. You know, nothing will move this house. It's very sturdy. We have solar panels which makes our electric bills extremely low. There are two Tesla batteries in the garage that provide approximately 3 days worth of energy. The main criteria for designing the house was take advantage of all the views. Every time you look out a window, it's like art. We see the Intracoastal Waterway all around us. I think we pinch ourselves every day when we look outside and just see how beautiful it is. You take advantage of the sunrises and sunsets here. Pretty spectacular. For the next person that owns this house, I hope they'll enjoy some of the design features that we put into the house. I hope that they could welcome people into their home the same way we welcomed them. I hope they enjoy the neighborhood. St. James has just about anything you could want. We have four different golf courses. There's pickle ball. It's a big tennis community as well. And we have four clubs that offer different features from swimming to workout to dining. We have our own beach club at the beach. And the beach itself is great. If you love your community, you'll love this place. I think it's probably the most special lot and house in St. James that I've seen. If you love the beauty of nature, if you love the water, if you love having a place to have family and friends over, I think you'll love it here.
We are at 216 West Bay Street in Southport, North Carolina. And this house is the iconic residence in Southport. This is the house with the big red roof. Nothing else epitomizes the town like this house does. When we first moved here, they said it was the third most photographed icon in North Carolina. The river pilots that would come in on these ships often use the house as a landmark. It was a navigational aid before navigational aids. This house is just full of history. It was built by a blockade runner, gentleman named Thomas Man Thompson. Mr. Thompson had 34 successful runs. He was paid for knowing those waters. The man was said to have had gold buried in his backyard. His whole escapades were only for 12, 13 months. And yet he made a great deal of money enough to build this house. The house has been here ever since 1870. It's a really wellbuilt house. This is the only house that had a widow's walk. That was a unique feature. I love the old hard pine floors that have been in this house for 150 years and will be here 150 more. This house has a lot of light, especially for 150-y old house. Our history here began in 1972 when mom and dad bought the place. It's a lovely place living here. You're seeing the ships going by. The most valuable part of this house in our mind is that porch and it's really because of the memories that are associated there. There is no finer place in town to look at the Fourth of July fireworks. You see an awful lot of folks pass by. They all stop and admire the house and they will occasionally chat with you about it. Southport is a very convenient town. Still small enough that you can walk places, especially from this house. It's safe. There's really good food, tons of cute little shops. This house is full of happiness. To me, it feels full of love and warmth. This house is just full of history.
